Mandated Reporter Information
A mandated reporter is someone required by law to report if they suspect or know that child abuse if occurring. There are penalties if mandated reporters are aware of incidents of abuse, yet fail to report them. A list of mandated reporters for the state of Ohio includes:
- Attorneys
- Audiologists
- Child care workers
- Children Services personnel
- Coroners
- Day care personnel
- Dentists
- Nurses
- Physicians, including hospital interns and residents
- Podiatrists
- Psychiatrists
- School authorities, employees and teachers
- Social workers
- Speech pathologists
- Animal control officers/agents
If you are a mandated reporter, we may require you to follow up your verbal report in writing. This request generally is made if your report is based on specific diagnostic information or if an agreement exists between your agency of employment and Butler County Children Services.
