Butler County offers 24 Community Recycling Drop Boxes throughout the county.  These Drop Boxes are available to all residents at no charge.  See the attached flyer for guidelines on what to recycle.  

Materials accepted for recycling:  recycle newspapers, magazines, junk mail, phone books, brown paper bags, office paper, cardboard, paperboard (such as cereal boxes), plastic bottles/jugs and tubs (margarine, yogurt cups and cottage cheese tubs), milk cartons/juice boxes (remove lid/straw),glass bottles & food jars, aluminum cans, steel cans and empty aerosol cans (remove tip)

NOTE:
At this time, curbside recycling pick up is NOT available in Lemon, Madison, Milford, Reily, St. Clair and Wayne Townships. Residents should use one of 24 recycling drop box stations located throughout the county for their recyclable materials.

Please do NOT attempt to recycle the following materials in your recycling bin or drop off containers: plastic grocery bags; styrofoam; paint cans; coat hangers; steel scrap; glass from windows/doors or drinking glasses; broken glass; light bulbs, batteries and pizza boxes with soiled food matter.

City Residents
Butler County residents living in the cities of Fairfield, Hamilton, Middletown, Monroe, Oxford, Trenton and Ross Township have curbside recycling included as part of their regular weekly trash collection service. These residents do not need to contact a waste hauler for residential trash and recycling services. 

Fairfield
The city has a curbside recycling program provided by Rumpke Recycling. 
To get a recycling bin/cart, call 513-867-4200.
 

Six recycling drop off stations are available to the public:

  • Fairfield Aquatic Center, 2605 Augusta Blvd., Aquatic Center/North Trace - Limited Hours: 7am-3:30pm M-F & when pool/North Trace is open
  • Community Arts Center, 411 Wessel Drive
  • Gilbert Park - Limited hours: daylight to dusk
  • Justice Center, 5230 Pleasant Ave.
  • Municipal Building, 5350 Pleasant Ave.
  • South Trace Golf, Limited Hours: When course is open, 2200 John Gray Road

Fairfield Brush Pickup and Leaf Collection
Arrange to have your brush and limbs picked up by the Fairfield Public Works Department. Another service, Operation Dump Truck, accommodates large quantities of brush and limbs too large for the call-in pick-up program. Leaf collection takes place from early November through December. Hamilton
The city has a curbside recycling program provided by Rumpke Recycling.

Two recycling drop off stations are available to the public:

  • Hamilton Fire Station, 77 Pershing Ave.
  • Hamilton Fire Station, 335 N. Erie Hwy.

Tree limbs and brush to the waste water treatment plant the 2nd Saturday of each month between April and October from 8 a.m. - noon.  Limbs and brush are chipped for mulch used in city parks. Curbside leaf collection takes place in the fall, October/November. Visit the city's website for details - http://www.hamilton-city.org/


Middletown 
The city has a curbside recycling program provided by Rumpke Recycling. 
To get a recycling bin/cart, call 513-425-7766. 

Three recycling drop off stations are available to the public: 

  • BeauVerre Riordan Stained Glass, 1054 Central Ave. (downtown)
  • Fire Station HQ, 2300 Roosevelt Ave.
  • Fire Station, 4310 Central Ave., (at the intersection of Breiel Blvd.)

Monroe
The city has a curbside recycling program provided by Rumpke Recycling. 
To get a recycling bin/cart, call 513-539-7374. 


Oxford
The city has a curbside recycling program provided by Rumpke Recycling. 
To get a recycling bin/cart call (513) 524-5221.

Two recycling drop off stations are available to the public: 

  • Miami University Police Station - 4935 Oxford-Trenton Rd. - St. Rt 73(across from John Brown Stables)
  • Miami University Culinary Support Center - 426 Wells Mills Dr.

Oxford provides curbside pick up for brush and yard waste (no grass), including leaves, tree trunks, stumps and holiday trees from December - February. Visit the city's website for details http://www.cityofoxford.org 


Trenton
The city has a curbside recycling program provided by Rumpke Recycling.
To get a recycling bin/cart, call (513) 988-6305extension 164.


Township Residents

Fairfield Township
 
Two Recycling drop off stations are available to the public:

  • Fairfield Township Fire Station, 6048 Morris Road
  • Fire Station, 2659 Tylersville Rd.

Hanover Township
A recycling drop off station is available to the public:

  • Hanover Memorial Park, 1880 Morman Rd.

Liberty Township
Two Recycling drop off stations are available to the public:

  • Liberty Township Fire Station, 5166 Princeton Glendale Rd.
  • Liberty Township Fire Station, 6957 Yankee Rd

Residents should contact Rumpke or CSI to set up household trash and curbside recycling collection.


Madison Township
A recycling drop off station is available to the public:

  • Township Administration Building, 5610 West Alexandria Rd.

Residents should contact Rumpke or CSI to set up household trash collection.


Milford Township
One recycling drop off station is available to the public:

  • Darrtown, 4319 Hamilton-Richmond Rd.(St. Rt 177)

Morgan Township
Two recycling drop off stations are available to the public:

  • Township Administration Building, 3141 Chapel Rd.
  • Shandon Fire Station, 4765 State Rt. 126

Residents should contact Rumpke or CSI to set up household trash collection. 


Oxford Township 
Residents should contact Rumpke or CSI to set up household trash service and curbside recycling collection.


Reily Township 
The township has a curbside recycling program provided by Rumpke Recycling. 
To get a recycling bin/cart, call (513) 524-5221.

A recycling drop off station is also available to the public:

  • Parking area next to Community Center, 6061 Reily-Millville Rd.

Ross Township 
The township has a curbside recycling program provided by Rumpke Recycling. 
To get a recycling bin/cart, call Rumpke at 1-800-582-2107. 


Seven Mile
Residents should contact Rumpke or CSI to set up household trash collection.


St. Clair Township
A recycling drop off station is available to the public:

  • St. Clair Administration Building, 2449 Jackson Rd.

Residents should contact Rumpke or CSI to set up household trash collection.


West Chester Township 
As of October 1, 2022
Due to contamination and mis-use of the recycling containers at West Chester (Activity Center - 7900 Cox Rd., Keehner Park - 7411 Barrett Rd., and Beckett Park - 8558 Beckett Rd.,) these sites have been closed.  Resident can sign up for curbside recycling through Rumpke at 1-800-828-8171.  Butler County will cover the cost for 3 months for residents that sign up for curbside recycling before November 30, 2022.
