COLLECTION PROGRAMS

The following programs are a combination of services provided by Butler County Recycling, local businesses and non-profits. County programs are available at NO CHARGE to Butler County residents. Businesses and contractors with commercial quantities of materials are advised to contact Butler County Recycling for additional recycling opportunities.
BUTLER COUNTY RECYCLING
Butler County Household Hazardous Waste Drop Off

This program will resume in July 2023.


Accepted Items: Oil based paint, varnish, stains, antifreeze, gasoline, motor oil/heating oil, pesticides & fertilizers, solvents, thinners, cleaners, household and auto batteries, fire extinguishers, propane tanks, mercury thermometers, fluorescent bulbs (all sizes) driveway sealer, thermostats, land and pool chemicals, e-cigarettes/vape pens.  

Got Latex Paint?

Butler County Computer & Television Recycling Program

This program will resume in August 2023.

Accepted Items: tube and flat screen TVs, monitors, computer tower, laptops, printers, fax machines, scanners, cell phones, batteries, calculators, video game consoles, DVD players, computer peripherals (keyboard, mice, speakers).
Freon Appliances

Refrigerators, Freezers, Air Conditioning Units and Dehumidifiers.

Cohen will accept *Freon appliances at their locations listed below. A fee of $15.00 per unit will apply.

Non-Freon appliances (washers, dryers, dishwashers, microwaves, stoves, water heaters, etc.) can be taken to a scrap metal dealer, such as Cohen for recycling. 
*Note: Freon must be intact in unit.
Batteries

DO NOT throw batteries in your recycling cart with other recyclables. They pose a fire hazard and cause fires at recycling facilities. Take batteries to Cohen or Batteries + Bulbs - fees may apply.  Call ahead for information.

Alkaline batteries (C, D, A, AAA, 9-volt) can be disposed in your household garbage, but lithium ion batteries require special handling, do not place in your trash or recycling cart/bin. 
Fluorescent Lightbulbs & Fluorescent Tubes


Take your used compact fluorescent bulbs or fluorescent tubes to Batteries Plus Bulbs or Cleanlites Recycling.
