Planning
The Planning Division coordinates the statutory duties of the Butler County Planning Commission and the Butler County Rural Zoning Commission. Included in this responsibility are the timely creation and distribution of sound decision-making reports and other tools, as well as training and guidance for all citizens who serve on our boards.
Day-to-day, the Planning Division handles a variety of tasks, including Subdivision Regulation, Land Use Planning, Rural Zoning Administration, Floodplain Management, and Airport Zoning. Special projects of the Division include demographic analysis, GIS mapping, capital improvements planning, and grant administration.
Application for Subdivision Plat Review
The Butler County Planning Commission meets monthly to consider subdivision plats and zone changes. The schedule for upcoming meetings, annotated agendas, and past minutes can be found here. All divisions of land in Butler County are considered subdivisions and are subject to the adopted Subdivision Regulations of the County. Certain smaller-scale projects are eligible for administrative review and approval; check here for more information on these Minor Subdivisions.
Some portions of Butler County are subject to the threat of occasional flooding. The areas of potential flooding and regulations for development in these sensitive areas are available online. Contact Floodplain Administrator Jim Fox at (513) 887-3608 for further details on flood zones.
